Cognitive Systems Research group
The Cognitive Systems Group at Reutlingen University advances modern intelligent systems by integrating computer vision, machine learning, and computer graphics with the modeling of human cognition. Their research emphasizes cutting-edge machine learning techniques, including lifelong active learning—where systems continuously adapt and improve from new data—and uncertainty quantification, which ensures robust and reliable AI by mathematically assessing and managing both aleatoric and epistemic uncertainties in predictions and decisions. This approach enables the development of adaptive, trustworthy, and explainable AI systems.
Beyond automotive applications, the group applies these methods to diverse domains such as life sciences, movement science, and inclusion assistance systems, leveraging their expertise to design intelligent, human-centered solutions that benefit society at large
