Runner-up Best Paper Award at IEEE ITSC
We have received the Runner-up Best Paper Award at the 21th IEEE International Intelligent Transportation Systems Conference (ITSC 2018) in November on Hawaii, USA.
Our paper “Using Simulation to Improve Human Pose Estimation for Corner Cases” received the Runner-up Best Conference Paper award (Program link) at the international Intelligent Transportation Systems Conference (IEEE ITSC 2018).
We have shown how to significantly improve the performance of 2D human pose estimation on rare human poses with the help of purely simulated data. This is especially important for urban autonomous driving, where automated vehicles need to get a better understanding of pedestrians in their environment and for which relevant training data for their machine perception is difficult to obtain.
